Dan Kennedy in his book The Ultimate Marketing Plan: Target Your Audience! Get Out Your Message! Build Your Brand! mentions this:

“If you and I were to open up a hamburger stand, and I told you that you could have any advantage you wanted for your business, what would you choose?”

Some people say, “The best-tasting hamburgers.” Others say, “The lowest prices.” Some might mention having the best location or the most efficient service.

But “No, they’ve all missed the most important advantage. The single most critical advantage you can have is a starving crowd.

It doesn’t matter how good your hamburgers are, how low your prices are, or how great your location is if there isn’t a hungry market of people who want to buy what you’re selling. Without a starving crowd, all those other factors won’t lead to success.

The most important thing you can do is find or create a starving crowdfor your product or service. When you have a market that is eager and ready to consume what you offer, your chances of success skyrocket.
