β€œCriticism is often met with 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐒𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 and 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. Instead, understanding and patience can lead to more positive outcomes.” β€” this is in the first chapter of β€œHow to win friends and influence people” by Dale Carnegie

Especially if you are a manager, 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐒𝐭𝐒𝐜𝐒𝐳𝐞. On my experience I’ve seen that criticism rarely leads to positive outcomes or increased productivity. I’ve made this mistake myself and noticed that when people are criticized, they often become defensive and 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 π₯𝐒𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐒𝐧𝐠, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐟 𝐭𝐑𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐒𝐭𝐒𝐜𝐒𝐬𝐦 𝐒𝐬 𝐯𝐚π₯𝐒𝐝.

But the worse is criticism can create a culture where people focus more on pleasing the critic, particularly if that person is a manager, rather than doing their best work.

How do you manage criticism?
